[Believe you me that everyone on this ship is just as surprised as Spike is that not one of them have felt ready to kick Maya off the Bebop yet. As if they had any choice-- Ed loves her and so does Ein, and even if that didn't overrule half of anyone else's opinions, Jet just couldn't let this girl off on her own. Even Faye had taken to having another girl around, one who didn't compete with her for attention but also wasn't quite... Ed-like about the trivial, often greedy things Faye was into.

The only problem could possibly have come from Spike and his stray-cat demeanor, insisting that Maya was definitely a woman with an attitude. Maybe not one just like Faye's, but close enough!

There was just something else about her. Something musical, like the pizzicato that turns blues into something jazzier. Like plucked strings, like the rain-pittering pings of the brighter end of the piano, something he's not had the chance to play in a long time. Maya is just so threateningly alive that it boils up sick and spritely bubbles at once all inside of Spike, tugging his heart around.

He can't not care about her, not want to keep that brightness shining just the way it does in Ed, even if it makes him think too much about blonde hair and sad eyes.]

You'll enjoy food anywhere,

[Comes Spike's retort from where he sits splayed out on the couch, huffing as though he too doesn't want to scarf down a few hundred sandwiches right now. Regardless, he uncrosses those long legs and leans his head back over the edge of the couch, taking Maya in from the corner of his eye.]

You even know what's around?
