I'll be nice and start soft: what is the silliest thing you have an emotional attachment to?

Are we doing "Amber thinks it's silly" or "everybody else tells Amber that it's silly, as they have no taste"?

Because the number of people who don't understand top hats never went out of style is appalling.

[ Vera laughs. Amber's love for top hats is adorable. Vera is probably the only one who doesn't say anything about it ]

The former is what I'm more curious of.

Uh, okay, then...

[ Amber digs in her purse and pulls out...an eraser. Which she curls her hand around. She looks over at Vera. ]

You're NOT gonna laugh, right?

[ She shakes her head, holding a hand out to swear that she won't ]

[ She purses her lips at the sight of the eraser, now even more curious of why ]]

All right.

[ Amber holds up the eraser. It's the kind a child might buy in a set of school supplies, white rubber with a cardboard wrapper. ] Watch.

[ Her thumb begins to push the eraser up through its wrapper. As she does so, a small cartoon character can be seen stamped on the rubber.

[ Immediately: ] Do a really over the top stage trick, but you can't do any time stopping!

[ Being able to snoop on Amber's tricks may have been part of the plan all along, given that this is Stella. ]

[ She begins hurrying around, heels clicking, moving furniture about, rearranging where lamps are....

Hmmm... worst, how to define "worst"- no, I was definitely acquitted for that one... oh! [She snaps her fingers, smiling brightly.]

I think it was definitely the time I started moulting! Three weeks of sloughing off bits of hardened exoskeleton, and nothing to show for it but the same old boring human skin once I was done. [She pouts.] I was so itchy the whole time...

It turned out that experiment didn't actually break any laws, because they didn't know it was physically possible to genetically engineer an anti-spleen, so no one had any laws about it yet!

...they have a lot now, though. [She shrugs and sips her hot chocolate. Mmm, marshmallows.]

Anyway, the judge said it wouldn't be fair to charge me with anything, since it wasn't illegal when I did it.

[ She grabs her top hat from the nearest coatrack and flips it around in her hands, playing with it like some people play with basketballs. This doesn't appear to be the trick, though. She's just bad at not doing things with her hands.

Also like some people play with basketballs, she drops it. But catches it on her foot.
