[Stanford Pines had encountered some truly incredible things these past few years studying the paranormal in Gravity Falls, but today he may have come across his greatest discovery yet. Inside a hidden room in the town library, one that not even the librarians seemed to be aware of, were several books on an old, dusty shelf that apparently hadn't been touched in decades. He'd decided to take them back to his house (he'd bring them back, of course! ... if they weren't actually anything useful to his research, that is) to get a better look at them, and what he read he almost couldn't believe.
The books detailed numerous creatures and deities from H.P. Lovecraft's writings, however they were described as actually being much different from how Lovecraft portrayed them in his stories. Chapters on the Outer God Nyarlathotep, for instance, wrote as follows:
"The Crawling Chaos appeared not to me as an unfathomable tentacled abomination, but a cheerful and friendly young woman with long silver hair. I was told this was not her true form nor was Nyarlathotep a single deity, and that she was simply one of many among her kind. Apparently intrigued by human culture, she seemed highly interested in my novels, records and other hobbies, even admiring the small statues I had collected on my trips to the far east."
If this were any other town, Ford would have written something like this off as a nonsensical hoax. But this was Gravity Falls, and with these memoirs also including instructions for summoning the eldritch entity... he found himself much too tempted and curious to resist. The six-fingered scientist followed the ritual's directions meticulously until it was finally ready. He closed his eyes, concentrated, and spoke the incantation slowly and carefully. Once the final syllable escaped his lips the summoning circle began to glow with what he could feel was a tremendous power... Let's hope this was a good idea.]
