How does it work?
Simple! Choose a relationship (or roll for one, if it suits your fancy), and then RNG for a situation! That, or just go straight for whatever situation appeals to you. These are all fairly vague: just something to start you off!
 

Parent-Child

1. Rock-a-Bye How do you get a fussy child to sleep? Read them a story, sing them a lullaby, or just let them stay up until they exhaust themselves? Whatever the choice, it is time for bed.

2. For The First Time You've never met this person in your life, but it turns out they're one of the two reasons you exist. Maybe they walked out when you were young. Maybe they never knew you were born. Whatever the reason, it is now time to meet them.

3. Past Midnight That curfew was set for a reason. Now it's two AM, and your kid is just now dragging in. Maybe they're drunk. Or got into a fight. Or just had way too much fun snogging their new love interest. It's time for them to face the music.

4. New Home It's the first day of your new life together, as parent and child. Whether it's through adoption, a basket on the front steps, or a wish come true, both of you are going to have to learn to take your steps together.

5. Holiday It could be Christmas, Easter, or just a birthday, but it is time to celebrate! Get together for some good old-fashioned family fun.

6.Take To Work Day What your parents do for a living is the quickest thing that can turn a kid from boring to the coolest on the block. So whatever the job, from accountant to zookeeper, go to work!

7. You're Not My Real Dad Being a step-parent (or step-child, for that matter) can be tough. Problem is, you're stuck with each other. So whether you're yelling or just having an awkward conversation, it is time to work things out.

8. Unexpected Guardian So you're not the parenting type. Too bad. Situation calls for someone to step up to the plate and look out for this kid, and you're the only one near base. Have fun with that.



Siblings

1. Protective Big Sibling Okay, look. No one gets to mess with your sibling but you. Your little brother or sister is in trouble; let them know you're going to be the one to take care of it.

2. Ruining The Night So your sibling has a hot date. You know what that calls for? Making their lives a living hell.

3. Newcomer Who is this new kid in your house? Your family has adopted, and now you have to call this stranger family. Welcome them into the house, or let them know how much they aren't wanted.

4. Blood Brothers So maybe you aren't really related to this person. That doesn't matter. You're going to change that, right now. In this moment, you will become family. Nothing can break this bond.

5. Middle of the Night It's the middle of the night. Your car is broken down, or you're drunk, or you need bailed out, or you just got beat up, or someone just broke up with you. Whatever just happened, it's time to call your sibling and hope they can bail you out.

6. Sibling Rivalry Nobody understands what jerks siblings can be! Always in your stuff, messing up your relationships, getting in your way -- it's time for an all out brawl, whether that means yelling, pranking, or fists flying.

7. Long-Lost Maybe you've heard of this person. Or maybe they are entirely new to you. However, you've gotten the information that you're more than strangers: you're family. Welcome to each other's lives.

8. All Alone Once your family was whole. Or maybe it never truly was. Whatever the case, the world is a big, dangerous place, and you've only got one person left to rely on: your sibling.


Uncle/Aunt-Niece/Nephew

1. Sent Away There's something bad going on at home, and you've been sent away to "safety." Problem is, how safe is this relative really? Are they the kooky, cool kind of Aunt, or are they a crazed Uncle after your fortune? Time to find out.

2. Taking You In Something's happened to your niece/nephew's parents, and it's time to step up and do your family duty. They've got nowhere else to go, after all.

3. The One We Don't Talk About So maybe the family is a little bit...ashamed of you. You're a bit mad, or you've done something they just don't like. Yet you want to be part of your niece/nephew's life, and whatever their parents say, you'll find a way.

4. Grand Adventure Maybe you came out of nowhere, or maybe you've just been keeping secrets. But you aren't an ordinary aunt/uncle, and it's time to take your niece or nephew on a very wild ride.

5. Like A Parent To Me Sure, you have parents, but this person is who your parents should be like -- or maybe who you feel should be your parent in the first place. Let them know how you feel about them.

6. Don't Tell Mom Aunts and Uncles have special qualities. Like, sometimes, being a bit more lenient than Mom and Dad might be. So you have a, er, sensitive problem? It's time to run to them.


In A Relationship

1. New Baby On The Way The panicking is already over, but there are still preparations to be made. Maybe you need to set up the nursery, or you've got the best idea for your soon-to-be child's name.

2. Romeo & Juliet You love this person. Perhaps more than life itself. But it is time to break the bad news: your family will never approve.

3. I Think I Might Be Pregnant Somehow, you are pregnant. And you think you know who the father is...time to break the news.

4. While You Were Away You've been gone years, only to come back and find your beloved has a child...with your eyes.

[ An alchemist isn't really the same thing as a doctor, but Plachta likes to think it comes from the same place of intent. That desire to help people, to see them healthy and smiling and do something to ease their ills even if you can't fully cure it. So that's why, in the absence of a real doctor, she seems to have taken it upon herself to be keeping an eye on a certain Matou Sakura.

It's a bit nervewracking, of course, though it's not like Plachta would ever let that show. Sakura's scared enough as it is and the last thing she needs is for the women who's supposed to be helping her letting on that she's just as shaky too. But Plachta's an alchemist. She's a researcher. If there's something she doesn't understand, she'll plug away at it until she does, no matter how long it takes.

So she's confident that when the time comes, she'll be ready to do whatever Sakura needs her to do. ... Reasonably confident, anyway.

In the meantime, Plachta sticks to her usual routine of checking on Sakura as often as needs be – usually once a day, even if she only stops by for five minutes or so. It's less about health and more about providing a comforting presence – but apparently, today, she's got health on the mind if that basket of what looks like alchemized goods on her arm while she settles in for her usual visit. ]

Miss Matou. [ polite as usual. ] How are the both of you feeling today?

[ Honestly, all the little things help. The feeling of knowing someone's got her back despite Shirou's, uh, notable absence thanks to jamjar mechanics is extremely comforting. She spent a lot of the first few months more wrecked than she'd ever felt before, futilely hoping to find a way to get her dumb boyfriend back from the void, but alas, the powers that be are not so easily moved. Now, she's trying her best not to stress out too much, because apparently that's bad for babies, too.

She is still absolutely stressing out, though. There's a slim hope Shirou will be back one day, and she's holding onto that. (Honestly, she'd be nervous even if he was here, because no one should trust Shirou with a child, Jesus Christ.)]

Ah, good afternoon, we're fine. [ We. It still feels strange saying that. ] What have you got there...?

That's good to hear.

[ Her voice is placid, as usual, but not without warmth and she gives Sakura a little smile as she pats the bottom of the basket with her free hand. ]

I prepared some elixirs for you with some of my spare materials. It might not be as much of a problem now, but as things progress, you may find yourself having issues with your appetite, getting a restful sleep and general fatigue.

I can't exactly cure those for you, but I can help to counteract them a little.

...so uh, that's the story.

[ Being that Marisa doesn't talk to her actual mom, her mom figure has been missing for years, and the two other moms she knows are either crazy or would probably laugh at her, that narrows it down to just Yuuko for advice. Thank fuck for jamjars. She might have been doomed, otherwise (touhou moms why).

The story in question is told with a look of embarrassment. So maybe she had a one night stand with a guy, so maybe she knows his name but has no way to find him. But she can do this, she's resourceful! ...she does fully realize she has no idea what she's doing. How the hell does she mom, pls assist. ]

I'm still lookin' for him, honestly, I don't think he has any idea...but it's just me, right now.

[Well, the story Marisa just told her is familiar to Yuuko in places. She was only around 18 or so, and Takeshi was a year younger, when they decided to take the next step in their relationship that had been long in development since they were kids...which in hindsight was not very well planned, since Yuuko would eventually find out that she was expecting triplets. It wasn't an easy pregnancy, especially with the worry that not all of the babies would be born safely, and the triplets arrived several weeks early, but somehow they managed to pull through it.

The big difference here is that Marisa is dealing with this by herself. And even if she finds the father, there's no guarantee that he'd be willing to help her.]

Well, if you want to keep looking for him, then by all means you should. In the meantime...what about the baby? Are you planning to keep it?

...yeah. I thought about it for a while, but I'm already feelin' kinda attached. I don't think I could give it to someone else and be okay with that, now.

I see... [That was more or less Yuuko's thoughts when she found out about her own pregnancy. But part of that reasoning was because they were also Takeshi's kids, and there was no way she could part with them while knowing that.]

Well...pregnancy isn't easy, and babies don't come with manuals. The best thing you can have is support from people you know and trust. So...if there's anything you need or want to ask me about, you can always come to me.

But now that's over, and a doctor has let her in to see Yuuri and the newcomer.]

[ It's probably not a surprise that Yuuri looks, shall we say, less put together than usual. Her hair's a mess and there's bags enough under her eyes to carry a whole month's worth of groceries. She's only had a few hours rest with all the comings and goings and all she wants to do is go to sleep for a week straight.

Despite that, though, the smile she gives Arianna looks warm enough even if it's rather understandably lacking some of its usual brightness. ]

Good morning... so it is still morning. I'd totally lost track.

[ She giggles and then turns her attention briefly down to the little bundle she's still holding in her arms. ]

Are you ready to say hello?

It is just after eleven. [I RNGed it and everything.] You must be exhausted.

[She certainly looks exhausted, though Arianna politely doesn't comment on that. Instead she quietly approaches, leaning in to get a better look.]

Get a little closer -- here, sit on the bed, if you like. Then you can get a proper look at her.

[ she's not completely sure that's allowed but who the hell is going to tell them no?

She's cradling the baby carefully against her but she manages to inch a little ways in Arianna's direction though not without some obvious wincing. ]

[Arianna sits next to her, a little awkwardly since the bed's only meant for one occupant so she's sort of on the edge, and looks, look at this tiny person, she's rii-san's daughter, and her niece, a little baby who's a new part of their family aaaaah]

Did you two decide on her name?

Well... tell me if it sounds silly, but I've been thinking of "Haruka".

[ The similarity to Ruu's given name is what makes her hesitate – the last thing she'd ever want is to make Ruu feel like she's being replaced – but once the idea had popped into her head, she'd found herself quite unable to put it completely out of mind. ]

There's a few ways you can write it, but I was thinking I'd use the character for "distance", just like me and Ruu-chan have in our names.

[ And their mother – but that isn't something Yuuri wants to say right now, during such a happy moment. ]

But I really wanted something that would sound... right for her. It was harder than I thought – I mean, I had to work with "Tenmyouji", so that's not much of a surprise.

[ It's not every day you get sent out on a scouting mission in the woods and find a goddamn baby on the forest floor, nothing to identify her with and no trace of her parents. So that's where their weekend has gone. No one in this region reported a missing kid, and the Future Foundation doesn't exactly have a supply of nannies at the ready, so for the time being Pink Disaster and Gray Disaster are gonna have to wing this.

...that said, Futo's a little weirdly subdued about this ordeal and hasn't said much. There was a time, literal eons ago, when she expected to be a mom one day, but that day never came and it got taken off the agenda the second she decided she wanted to be immortal and started wrecking her body. She's normally not testy about the fact that she...straight out cannot have kids, because she has murdergrandkids and they are fantastic, but this is making her a little bitter having to think about it.

At present, she's laying on the floor next to the baby, watching her play with a gently-used mobile. ]

...I suppose she deserveth a name. Hast thou any ideas?
