The HOLY GRAIL WAR Meme

Seven Masters, magi of the present day. Seven Servants, heroes of days past.

One Holy Grail, granting whomever claims it a wish. Only one team of Master and Servant may claim it.
Who will it be?
For those unfamiliar with Fate/Stay Night or Fate/Zero, you can find a better explanation of the Holy Grail War here. (Note: The Holy Grail War in Fate/EXTRA functions in a dramatically different way, and one not followed for purposes of this meme.)

Instructions
1. Comment with your character. In the subject line, put that character's name, canon, and which role (Master, Servant, or either) you would like them to fulfill. Though not mandatory, it would be preferred that you give a brief summary of your character as they will (most likely) be AU'd into the setting. (NOTE: If your character can fill the role of Servant, I suggest you state which class(es) -- Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, or Berserker -- they fall into.)
2. Reply to others' comments. Pick your character's role (and the other character's if they list "Either" as their preference), then use the RNG to pick a scenario that fits the two characters' roles.
3. Enjoy! Though there might be triggers, depending on how the prompts are interpreted.

TWO MASTERS

1. Battle. Who says that Servants get to have all the fun? After all, most Masters try to kill each other, too. Whatever the circumstances, the two of you are locked in a fight. Neither of you are willing to use your Command Spells just yet, so no Servants here. Just two magi duking it out.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action against it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. Protection. Uh-oh! One of you has lost your Servant! Unfortunately, there's no way you'd get to the church safely on your own, so the other one will help you get there! Or maybe you don't trust the priest presiding over the Holy Grail War and are giving shelter to them yourself? Given their track record, no one would blame you.

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. You, Too? Surprise! You may have been friends before, but you've just discovered that you're both Masters! How will you handle this revelation?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!

MASTER AND SERVANT

1. Are You My Master? The summoning is complete. Whether intentional or not, catalyst or not, a magus has summoned a Servant. What kind of meeting was it? Was everything totally under control, or did a hitch occur? Or maybe it happened in the middle of a life-or-death situation!

2. Identity. Either the Servant has flat out told the Master their identity, or they unleashed their Noble Phantasm. Either way, the cat is out of the bag. How will the Master react, now that they know their Servant's name and legend? Will anything change between the two?

3. Battle Aftermath. A battle has just ended. Who participated? Are either of you hurt? Did the Master have to use a Command Spell? Any number of things could have happened here.

4. Discord. Uh-oh. It looks like the Master and the Servant don't get along. Here come the arguments! Don't do something stupid, like waste a Command Spell over a triviality...

5. Love. And then, there's the opposite. Sometimes Masters and Servants fall in love with each other. How will this affect things?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!

TWO SERVANTS

1. Battle. This is what usually happens when two Servants meet -- they duke it out. This probably says enough as it is.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action aginst it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. The Grail Dialogues. Maybe you're not interested in fighting just yet. Maybe you just want to sit down and talk with the other Servant. Find out what they want, what makes them tick. Get some wine while you're at it -- nothing like good wine to go with good talk!

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying...again. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in this War in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. Identity. Congratulations, you've just learned each other's identities! Will this change the situation, or will you press onward?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!

[ He knows the rituals, the sigils, what must be done to participate in the Holy Grail War. He had watched the preparations go on in silence, provided an extra pair of hands when it was asked for and power when it was needed.

He'd never expected to be using such things on his own, but life happens, as life does, and so does death.

And so do dying promises. Carry it on in my stead. I will not let my purpose die here before it's even begun!

It wasn't something he had to fulfill. The person who had bled out in his arms was not someone he had sworn to serve. But, in truth, as cold as he is, it's not something he can ignore.

So here he is, complicating matters, getting himself wrapped up in a war he doesn't need to fight. At the very least...it should prove interesting.
]

Why, yes. I am.

[ He stands up from where he kneels at the edge of the circle. If the magic's light flickers oddly on his face for a moment, suggesting hints of something else, well...

That's probably fine.
]

Though I am not the one who should be standing here - I can only hope we get along well, Caster.

[ He bows to her, after a moment. Even if this seems a bit backwards, at least he has manners. ]

[Well, she's certainly not one to judge on appearances. It would be a tad unfair for her of all people to comment on not looking entirely human, really.]

[Nor would she find it difficult to understand going to extreme lengths for the sake of those you loved- though her summoner's motivations aren't among the knowledge granted to her. She can feel the connection between them, solidified with the acceptance of the contract, providing her with fresh mana and him with her strength to call upon, but it's not something so deep. Certainly, it isn't the odd sharing of memories, the way Master and Servant may at times drift into each other's pasts in dreams. Such things come later, as understanding grows, if they are to happen at all.]

[As it is, the suggestion that someone else should be there in his place raises a proverbial eyebrow in her inward thoughts, but she merely responds to his bow with a polite, graceful curtsy of her own. She seems to appreciate his display of good manners, lips quirking in a very slight, approving smile.]

I'm pleased to hear that- I certainly would prefer to carry on this arrangement without any undue unpleasantness. Ideally, we shall both benefit from it quite nicely.

[Translation: don't be an egregious asshole and I won't devour you for mana. But stated with much more tact and diplomacy, because that's just how these things are done.]

[This Servant seems to carry herself with the poise and bearing of a proper lady, at odd contrast with the situation around them. Though perhaps it's not a bad fit, considering that her appearance simultaneously evokes a delicately lovely young woman and a very large spider. An intriguing contrast, between the monstrous and the human.]

[...Also, possibly a bit of a challenge when it comes to scouting around undetected. Either she'll be spending most of her time in public staying invisible, or Ekkehardt is going to need to locate a very concealing hat. Perhaps something with a nice veil.]

And may I ask your name, since we'll be working together?

[Possibly a loaded question, in a Grail War, but it's not as though he has a Noble Phantasm he needs to hide the nature of from their enemies. ...Probably. God knows no one ever follows the rules in these things.]

[ A small smile, a little lift of his chin and tilt of his head that suggest he's gleaned that hidden meaning of what Muffet has said. He doesn't seem bothered by it, however. On the contrary, he seems almost approving - and clearly amused. ]

Then I look forward to accomplishing much alongside you.

[ He's certainly less forceful than most Masters, that's for certain. And he seems well-suited in personality to complement his Servant nicely, though how well it will do in a war is unclear; he's mild-mannered and professional. ]

My name is Ekkehardt Gehring.

[ No problems there, then. ]

Is there anything urgent you require? You are, after all, a guest twofold. [ To this world, and to him. ] I will do my best to make your time here a comfortable one.

[Oh, good. She does so appreciate a professional.]

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir.

[The contract sealed, both in the practical and personal senses, she steps out of the circle and begins to survey her surroundings with thoughtful curiosity.]

I appreciate the consideration. There isn't anything terribly pressing at the moment- though I would, of course, like to know more about our current strategic situation and the resources we have to work with, whenever you've the time to sit down and discuss the matter.

[Presumably the War hasn't started in earnest yet, if there was still at least one Servant left unsummoned, but she's not going to pass up the chance to hear about any early details he might have picked up on their opponents.]

[Knowing about their own base of operations may well be just as important, if not more so- after all, Casters do tend to have an advantage when it comes to fortifying their territory.]

[And as a spider, she always takes great care when choosing where to weave her web.]
