Kiyotaka Ishimaru | Dangan Ronpa | AU Flavor
Shlick.
Howlite's katanas stuck in the rocky cliff face with perfect precision. With calculated grace, the Crystal Gem leapt from the surface and made their way down to the bottom using thin metal platforms, summoning each back to the speckled white gem on their forehead - there was no use being wasteful here, after all, and perhaps allowing some other corrupt monster to follow their trail. Dusting off their gloves and their star-shaped epaulettes, the next course of action was obvious.
...at least, to any creature with common sense.]
You, there! Will any monster in the vicinity please reveal themselves!
[And so they did. More than several, in fact, stalking out of the darkness. Shimmering crystalline wolves with gems protruding from their underbellies, and behind them a massive hound whose howl shook the ground beneath them. Diamond Dogs, they were called, but Howlite knew the truth of the matter.
Cubic zirconium.
Heat blazed around Howlite like a miniature sun. With a battle cry unlike any other, they assumed their fighting stance and rushed into combat, focus unmatched and yearning for justice.]
[ooc: powers include aura manipulation (specifically emotion aura/empowerment, indomitable will, and combat perception), and limited pyrokinesis.]

They COULD do so now. But instead they decided to just wait. Ideally the corrupted Gem could injured them enough that Charolite could just lift them up, finish them back down to their Gem, and leave. So annoyed was the Homeworld Gem, that perhaps they didn't work as hard to hide themselves while Howlite fought, fiddling with their headset and grumbling to themself.]

Even someone as attuned to the presence of others as Howlite could only handle so much at a time, and the violet Gem at the top of the cliff went unnoticed for a time. Expert swordsmanship, tactical strikes that could only be made by a warrior with millennia to their name, ducks and rolls and one final thrust of their weapon that put the largest dog to rest. They quickly took the shock of the pack ages as an opportunity to bubble the crystal in front of them, closing their eyes to form a grey sphere around the fallen friend.
...what was that?
Their head snapped around towards the source of the energy, staring up at the onlooker in awe. Not just an unlucky human who happened to stumble upon their fight, and from what they could tell, not a fellow Crystal Gem. The only remaining possibility stuck in their mind and blocked out all other thought. No, it couldn't be, No, they weren't supposed to--!
Panic was sharpened by the sudden agony that spread through his back from crashing into a rock wall, shoved backwards by the remaining pack of Diamond Dogs. Focus, focus -- but their mind was jumbled and distant from the sight of the Gem, concentration a hopeless ideal -- and they struggled to push the slobbering fangs of their pursuers back with the dull edge of their sword.]

Charoite was sure, once their attempt at scanning the other Gem was utterly blocked, that this was the one they had been warned against. And watching them fight, they knew that a one on one battle would not end well. They couldn't manage a melee fight with someone so experienced. And who's movements and thoughts they couldn't read at a glance.
So when Howlite noticed them and panicked, they couldn't help smirking. Dumbass. Now was their chance. So while the Crystal Gem fought to recompose themselves, Charoite reached out with their power, lifting near by boulders... focus, focus... it was hard to aim with larger things and so far away, after all.
But if they could just crush them in one go, they could dig up the gems later. Well, assuming they were still in one piece. Or close enough to one. With a bored sigh, they attacked.]
Nothing personal.

A spark of inspiration came to them and they quickly pushed off the wall with their sword, kicking the dogs backward and coming back to their feet. That was it, now, get in the rhythm - they were never what one would call coordinated except at their desk and on the battlefield, but their blades carried their message for them, grunting with effort. Perhaps more cunning creatures could have done the job, but corrupted monsters like this didn't have the brainpower to outwit the Crystal Gem.
There. Now to take care of the other...
Matter at hand.
Howlite looked up to see a hulking shadow overhead, and had they a heartbeat, it would have stopped dead in their chest.
"Stop!" They exclaimed, dashing frantically out of the way seconds before the boulder plummeted to the ground. "What is it that you are here for?" They were certainly on guard, weapon stiff at their side, but Howlite always wanted to believe in the potential of people. This Gem, origins aside, was no different.

"They aren't too happy about you guys being here still, plotting things or sticking your Gems up your noses or whatever you've been doing for the last couple millennium. I'm just doing my job, so hold still so I don't take an arm or something by accident."

Tensed, they summoned another sword and pressed the hilts together, preparing to block a strike. There were only so many things they could be planning with that projectile, and none of them were good.

"You had your chance." And with a grunt they jumped off the cliff edge- unlike Howlite they didn't create a path. Instead they just dropped, catching themselves psychically right before hitting, the tree coasting along behind them- and being swung like a giant club the moment they landed.
no subject
"I won't let you take this planet away until I can't move any longer!"
Sword and raw bark collided almost immediately after, but for all their energy, Howlite could only take so much brute force, weapon dissipating as the struggle sent him backward into the rocky wall again.
"Grrhn--!"
They gasped, eyes flying open. It wouldn't end like this, they knew it. They owed too much to this planet and the friends they had kept here to give up, and they staggered back to their feet with renewed vigor.
"If you know who I am, you should know that I never like disrespecting authority...!"
no subject
"Ugh.. yeah they told me that. That you'd never turn on the others- that's why I can't get into your head. But I can't get why you care? I mean I guess this place wasn't so bad a couple thousand years ago. But now it's so loud... I can hear all those humans chittering no matter how loud I turn these damned things up!"
They snarled, clutching their headset, the diamond emblem on it's ear peices glinting.
no subject
"That's exactly why I protect this planet," They nodded, summoning up another one of their swords. "To see that the species that live here can develop and thrive! I've dedicated my very soul to protecting the people of this planet...no matter what you do to me, I will always remain a Crystal Gem!"
It was at this point that Howlite sincerely wished that they were able to form Carnelian. Alone as they were, this Gem looked powerful enough to pose a serious threat, but something seemed...off.
Re: Kiyotaka Ishimaru | Dangan Ronpa | AU Flavor
Following this tidy series of events, the perpetrator seemed to reach the scene properly. Brandishing some sort of scythe in the direction of the dogs--that seemed to keep them at bay, in the least--they turned to face the other gem, head tilted. A good portion of their face was covered by a greenish visor, casting a sharp glare over their actual eyes. Their choice of dress was sleek and professional; a jumpsuit of sorts paired with a loose jacket--both items emblazoned with a yellow diamond. If the Crystal Gem is able to spot, there's a green stone on the back of his neck. Jade.
After another one of those eternity moments, they spoke, sounding more annoyed than anything else.]
...You oughn't exist.
