She doesn't know how long she's been going, but she's thin and weak when she sees another kid in the shrinking bushes checking out lifeless leaves. Slowly, she approaches.]

Hey.
[He's not actually poking them, exactly; he's stretching them as carefully as he can against the barren ground without breaking them, examining the dried-out petioles and stipules as if they're rare fossils, intricate skeletons.
He already knows they're not for eating. He's a fragile skeleton himself, in his faded red hoodie.]

I kinda ran out of food. I'm sorry. I bet you're hungry too.

You want a snack? I got stuff.

RNG gave me 3
Then the robots came. Despite all her efforts, despite how stronger she had become, she couldn't save any of them. Pey'j, Hub, the kids...they were all gone. Jade escaped to the mainland with the ones that survived the first few attacks, but she couldn't protect any of the kids.
Useless.
While crawling through the rubble of the city in search for medical supplies, she spots Satoru walking through the empty streets. Where was his family? Was he alone, too? Before she can get up and ask, a threatening red glow lights up in a darkened room behind the boy.]
Get down!
[ROBOT'S NOT GONNA HURT HIM ON HER WATCH. Jade leaps out from her hiding place and swings her metal staff at the robot's red glowing eyes.]
An excellent choice, RNG. Bear with me, I'm completely new with this guy
He flips over onto his back as the robot rears, eight, nine feet tall, one optic sensor smashed, head dented but not fatally. Its laser targeting is offline, but it's pissed. Shit.
He could run. He still needs to find his mom, to find Kayo and Kenya and Hiromi and prevent what's going to happen.]
Look out--duck under, it's swinging!
[He scrambles to his feet, because he remembers these older models, he drew so many of them for child-safety informational pamphlets. They all have a fatal weakness, and if he can just get at it, at the back of the neck where so many important wires are exposed...
Something sparks in his hand: a makeshift taser built out of a disposable camera.]
Totally fine. Jade's a bit rusty for me
Satoru's young voice grabs her attention, and she rolls onto the ground to avoid the attack. This part feels more natural. It's just another spar: Hub taking a practice swing above her as she dodgerolls in an attempt to get behind him for a sneak attack. If the robot had any weak spots, it had to be on its back.
If only it would let her get there. While it can't see as well as before, it can still sense her location with its infrared sensors and turns around to face Jade again.
It's not time to attack again, she tells herself. With on last roll, she ends up in a crouching position and waits for the robot's next attack. There's another swing, lower this time, and she evades that by flipping backwards. The landing is awful: her right foot catches a loose tile and she slips, managing to catch herself with a bloody scraped palm.
But that's enough time for the robot to reach her and pull back an arm for another punch.]

[It's hard to close the distance with such short, little legs, but Satoru is nothing if not filled with determination, and he was more fit at this age, more active. While Jade has the robot's attention, he dashes straight up to the back of the robot, climbs it's body with two legs and one arm like it's a jungle gym, and jams the taser into the back of its neck just as it starts to turn, recognizing the danger.
The whole machine convulses in a crash of blue sparks, and Satoru's flung off, landing on concrete with a pained yelp. But then, there's another surprisingly quiet pop as several important wires short out, and the robot shudders to a stop, arm still lifted to strike. But it's dead. All its lights are out. Phew.]
Ow ow ow...
[Satoru rolls over and puts his hand on his butt, hissing curse words for a second before raising his voice.]
Are you all right, oneesan?

some sort of zombie aftermath idk
She's not sure how long she's been staying here in the mall, but it's long enough that she starts setting up her little running track mostly on autopilot. The start and finishing lines are just flags plopped into buckets from the gardening store on this floor, set far enough apart to serve as an acceptable track. She's done this often enough that once she's done setting up, once she starts stretching and jogging, her mind starts to wander.
No one Honoka remembered had called them zombies but that's what they'd been. The radio had called them 'infected', 'diseased' but Honoka had seen enough horror movies to know exactly what they were. She didn't know where they'd come from or what had made them like that but she knew enough to be scared. She knew enough to run and hide when chaos descended and she'd lost contact with her parents and all she'd had left was her friends.
They'd been apart when it all happened and it had only been through co-ordination over emails and phone calls that they'd made a plan. They were going to go to the mall and meet up there, barricade themselves in and survive.
Honoka was the only one who'd made it. As far as she could tell.
The mall would probably have been bustling with people at some point or another but with the sickness spreading, she wonders sometimes if this mall was empty because they'd all left to find fresh meat. The thought makes her a little queasy but she thinks it's plausible. After all, the last she'd heard before the radio had buzzed out made it seem like the ones that were sick were starting to die off -- lack of food, lack of something and then she'd stopped getting a signal and with that, any news.
That was the last hints she'd had of the outside world in about two weeks. Since then it's just been herself. Herself and her schedule. Honoka Kousaka, an empty mall and her schedule to keep her from going utterly screamingly insane. ]
Yosuke Hanamura | Persona 4
zombies because it's Actual Canon
She takes Kurumi's shovel and ties her hair into tight braids then loops them into buns to keep it from being easily grabbed while she makes her mad dash through the school yard. It takes some co-ordination but with some spare glowsticks tossed from a window to serve as distraction, she makes it across the school yard and to the general store across the street in a heart-stopping full-throttle pelt.
She isn't dead. She isn't bitten. She's made it. So far, anyway.
Weighing the shovel carefully in her hands, Yuuri takes a few steps inside, turning left and then right. She takes in the store several times before she eases the door shut and creeps further inside, ears pricked for the first sign that there might be something amiss. ]

Her grip on the shovel tightens and she draws in a long, deep breath before holding it and starting to creep through the aisles. eyes narrowed to sharpen her vision, she peeks around one of the shelves, trying to find the source of whatever that sound was. ]
