I'm glad to hear it. Everything OLDEN touches, it corrupts. And everyone, almost.

[????]

Could you be more specific about its function...?
domeinion: Alice and A (chaos and order)

OLDEN was a glitch in a simulation of the real world. When the people and Pokémon trapped inside were pulled out -- when we pulled them out, something went wrong. OLDEN came out, too. It escaped into the space between worlds, where the Voices travel between hosts, and it's changed everything it touches.

...I have even less of an idea what you mean now, but it sounds fascinating!
domeinion: Alice kindly smiling and holding Swablee. (you'll be fine)

Fascinating, but extremely dangerous!

Many of the most rewarding fields of study are.
domeinion: Alice listening to music. (this is great)

[personal profile] domeinion 2016-05-14 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
What sorts of things do you do?
scientifictheory: (failed me in geometry)

[personal profile] scientifictheory 2016-05-14 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I study how best to bring out the strength of Pokemon! Whether that's by establishing bonds of trust with them, or by using a cold approach and forcing it like Team Plasma does - did.

[He's not used to it being gone.]
domeinion: Alice examining something. (ooh interesting)

[personal profile] domeinion 2016-05-14 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard things about those people. I never met them face to face, but my dad's old roommate from university -- well, that's getting off topic, isn't it? It sounds interesting to see how they can grow differently and be the best they can.

[were Bill and Ghetsis roommates this is important]

It's extraordinary. So far I've been convinced that trust and affection your Pokemon produces superior results, but I will always be gathering more data as I encounter new trainers.
domeinion: Alice distressed, spinning. (so sick of potatoes)

[personal profile] domeinion 2016-05-14 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[they were, it was a common thing in the leadup to black. i also wrote fic about it once]

I always wondered what it was like in worlds where you couldn't just ask them.
scientifictheory: (as deep as any ocean)

[personal profile] scientifictheory 2016-05-14 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You can speak to Pokemon?

[The nerdery is amping up.]
domeinion: Alice surprised (breakthrough!)

[personal profile] domeinion 2016-05-14 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
In my world, they can speak to us, but apparently that isn't a common thing. Then again, I'm also running into worlds that have nothing to do with ours being warped to look like ours, where there aren't any Pokémon at all but people were changed to function like they do! [Touhoumon was weird.] Once OLDEN's influence is dealt with, I really have to see what all these places function like normally.

Utterly bizarre, but fascinating! I really must find a way to visit, at the very least Pokemon being able to speak to humans could lead to some major breakthroughs in several areas of study--
domeinion: Alice kindly smiling and holding Swablee. (you'll be fine)

[personal profile] domeinion 2016-05-15 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! It's amazing to see all these sorts of things! Oh, but we do still need to get these worlds untangled. It's taken a very long time, and we haven't seen the Voices for weeks, they're taking an uncommonly long time in wherever they go between runs.
scientifictheory: (failed me in geometry)

[personal profile] scientifictheory 2016-05-15 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
You've mentioned the Voices a few times now - could you go into more detail there? I wish I had thought to bring something to take notes with...
domeinion: Alice and A (chaos and order)

[personal profile] domeinion 2016-05-15 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
The Voices are what you'd refer to as a hivemind. They have no bodies themselves, but travel together through space and time and possess a host to complete a series of objectives, generally boiling down to saving the region and/or world from some manner of peril and often including something for the host to benefit from as well, such as making them Champion or giving them honours in some other circuit. They're surprisingly good at their job, considering how confused and chaotic ten thousand voices in your head can be and how often they'll accidentally walk their host off a ledge.

[Midspeech, he's found a pen from somewhere or other and is furiously writing down notes on his arm.]

Intriguing! Your world truly is unlike the one I reside in.
domeinion: Alice surrounded by commands. (up down a start b right left)

[personal profile] domeinion 2016-05-18 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
At the same time, there are a lot of strange similarities! Even worlds like Athena's and Amber's -- the host, not the god, she's a priestess of Amber and took his name, I'm not sure why because that would get confusing.
scientifictheory: (ha! it's poetry in motion)

[personal profile] scientifictheory 2016-05-18 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It would seem that way! But I have never understood how anyone chooses names.

[The things people call their Pokemon. He's glad he decided against nicknaming his.]
domeinion: Alice surprised (breakthrough!)

I'm not sure. They just seem to come naturally, personally!

I will have to ask Rosa how she names hers.
