65th ♫ | Just like always, the real world goes on without me

The All-Purpose JamJar Meme

For that authentic Jamjar experience without the pesky commitment. Roll or pick from a setting and a prompt below! Drum up some assumed CR with strangers! Jamjar settings are officially the best when you want to do a cross-canon tag-out but just can't be assed to think of a way to fit your character in another one's canon.

I - SETTING

1. Horror: Your characters are taken from their own worlds and thrown into a terrifying situation! Things are creepy, resources are scarce, and ensuring your own survival is paramount.
2. Sex Game: For whatever contrived and nonsensical reason, your characters are forced into a world where they gotta bone. Aside from smutstuff, you have the opportunity to play out how very awkward it is to navigate these agreements and encounters before and after. Lasting bonds can form from something you didn't expect! But so can eternal regret.
3. Slice of Life: Characters are forced to live together in familial units. They have an opportunity here -- in spite of being stuck -- to relax and slow down and do some fun, ordinary things. Picnics, dates, school, etc.
4. Fantasy: Characters are forced into guilds and roles, given weapons and are made to utilize their powers in coordinated units to complete missions.
5. Scifi: Characters are thrust on to the frontier of spacial colonization! Characters on a spaceship! Characters being drafted into an Imperial Earth Army to fight/conquer foreign entities! Characters being in a world where they are assessed, identified, tracked and policed by artificial intelligence! And so on!
6. Reincarnation/ New Identity: Your character has been reborn at this game, or given a new identity. Work out their karma or help them come to terms with having to live a new life.
7. Asylum/Prison/Institutionalized Identity: Characters are locked up and put under heavy surveillance. Slowly they are institutionalized and disintegrated from ordinary social rules of engagement. They could be told that they've been identified as mentally dysfunctional, or they could be in prison! Are they pleading their innocence, or do they know they're guilty as fuck back in their world?
8. Assignment-Based/Mercenary/Survival: Characters have to put their skills to good use as drafted mercenaries. Help your captors assassinate, spy, sabotage, infiltrate, steal, and terrorize for points that will lead up to your freedom or the freedom of others.
9. Your Choice!: Do whatever!

II - SITUATION

1. First Impressions: You never forget your first impression of someone. Unless it was entirely forgettable.
2. Oh Hey Again: I kind of know you!!!! Hi!!! I hate this place but love familiarity hi!!!
3. Event: SOMETHING IS HAPPENING and your characters have either run into each other or sought each other out to stick together during it!
4. Living Quarters: Surprise, your characters are in the same house! Or room! Or building! Either way you have to share space and facilities with this person. Enjoy!
5. Mystery: Who Did It? Why Are We Here? Characters are disappearing, people are dying, whatever is happening it is FISHY!
6. Canon Update/Respawn/"But we know each other, I swear!": One character comes (back) to a game and does not remember previous CR. A relationship or friend or even hateship is forgotten. How will this be dealt with?
7. Begrudgingly Working Together: You are so fucking annoying but I guess we have to fight Monster of the Day Together/Get Unstuck-UnLost Together/Find Our Way Back/Help Each Other Out.
8. Is This a Date: Gee, you guys sure are doing a lot of things that people on dates do and you're having a lot of fun [sweats]...
9. Violence: Characters beat the shit out of each other or help each other out of a gory situation with terrible traumatic injuries or something!
10. One-Sided(?) Crush: How do you get their attention? Or, alternatively, how do you ignore that this person obviously is crushing on you and it's totally awkward
11. Protecting/Saving: Your character's chance to be a hero or a damsel!
12. Network Post: Mandatory bs.
13. Inbox: Hey, can I talk to you for a second? In private?
14. Your Choice!: Do whatever!

[As far as he was aware, Kairi was the only halfway proper magus in this place. Sure, there were plenty of other people with magic, but none from their world. None familiar with servants. So he felt a grudging sense of responsibility to keep an eye of Lancer, strange and powerful as she was.

Of course, without a contract, he didn't exactly have any way of subduing her if she did go off the rails. But maybe he'd be better able to see the signs before someone else. Unstable patterns in her mana.

Mostly, he'd been observing from afar. But then someone took one look at his getup and accused him of being a stalker. So lately, he's started talking to her a little. Trying to seem less weird. Today, though. Today some sort of Cthulhu has erupted out of the library. It takes him all of a few minutes to track down Brynhildr's mana signature, thanks to a hastily scribbled locator spell and then a "tactical temporary acquisition" of someone's car. He pulls right up to where she's standing with a screech of tires and leans out the window of the car.]

Hey, Lancer! You up for a fight?
[He imagines it'd be possible to take the monster down without her help but... It'd take a lot longer and thus result in a lot more collateral damage.]

[uuuugh. Rose hates fighting, and especially with someone she doesn't really... know well. Still, there's a monster approaching this jamjar village, and that means the people who live there have to step up and help.]

Hey, you! Pretty lady with the very big stick! Do you think you can get above its head? If you can get it to look up, I can get its neck!

Yes. So long as you mind its feet and do not draw attention to yourself, I may be able to manage it.

[ Despite the danger, Brynhildr looks... unmoved. As she does by most things. She looks icy and untouched, but if you look closer, it's clear that her lips are pursed tight and that her brow is furrowed. ]

What do you plan to do?

[ Being a Masterless Servant in any world is hard enough, but in a world like this with so many different people and places into it, Brynhildr has her work cut out for her. She's lucky that whatever force had brought her here seems to be sustaining her as a Grail or a Master would, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to last forever. She half expects to vanish into nothing like a snuffed-out candle at any moment which is somehow vexing and soothing all at the same time.

But with there being no Master and no war to fight for, it leaves her feeling restless and a little edgy. She doesn't consider herself truly bloodthirsty in the sense that others might mean it, but Servants exist to do battle – it should be little wonder that a lack of it would leave her feeling off-kilter.

Which is why, when Kairi arrives, Brynhildr's response is just a touch more agreeable than it otherwise might have been. ]

Of what sort? Has another Servant arrived here?

There's a gap in the scales by its throat- I can't tell if it's a natural gap or a scar, but it doesn't matter. It's guarding that part, though, so I can't get to it while its attention is on me. I can get my sword in there, though, if the monster looks up.

[It's rushed, hurried, pretty much all in one breath- This isn't the time for long conversation.]

[ A short, sharp nod. ]

I see. Be ready with your sword.

[ And with no further discussion – apparently, it's unneeded, Brynhildr takes flight, her spear at the ready. The monster dives, ready to take a bite out of her, but Brynhildr dodges quickly to the side and begins leading its head up, after her, into the sky. ]

[Rose follows up quickly- This lady is giving her a chance, and she cannot squander it. She slows her breathing, minimizing her presence, until she sees the monster's head up and neck exposed, and then... She lunges. Her sword, glowing faintly pink, pierces the throat of the monster, slipping neatly between scales, and tearing out, leading to a large spray of blood that Rose can't quite entirely avoid.

Gross.

She steps back before the monster can fall on her, at least...]

Ugh, so nasty... At least it worked. You okay up there? I need like a thousand showers.

Yes, I'm uninjured – I was just out of its reach, so there's no need to fret.

[ The corners of her mouth quirk up into a little smile as she takes in the sight of poor Rose, her clothe summarily ruined by the monster's... leavings. They're lucky there's nothing in that blood, huh? ]

And yourself? You were here on the ground, quite in the thick of the fighting.

I'm fine! Just... Grossed out, you know? Extremely. Ew.

[no, don't focus on that, focus on the pretty girl-]

Turns out I'm kind of awesome? And the magic sword helps.

You were quite brave.

[ She says this with a little nod of the head. Thankfully for everyone involved, Rose doesn't quite make the cut for a Brynhildr's Beloved candidate, so this is something she can earnestly say without following it up with a spear to the chest. ]

Have you fought in this way before?

[ Evening. Sophie's room. Current status: audible, fairly transparent but visible. They've spoken like, twice.

Ivy's head is sticking through the closed window. ]

My human rights are in peril! I didn't know where to go!

[ As soon as Sophie hears Ivy's voice, she jumps – badly enough to drop the textbook she's been buried in all afternoon. She'd been in such deep focus that even as she splutters in shock and looks up to see Ivy, she doesn't really see what's in front of her. ]

Y–your human rights?! Peril? What's–

[ Then and only then does she realize that Ivy is halfway in through her closed window and doesn't appear to be fully corporeal.

There's like a five second window between Sophie processing this information and Sophie starting to scream. She's got a pretty healthy set of lungs on her for such a sickly girl, huh. ]

Yes, it's--

[ And then the screaming starts. Ivy blinks, not expecting this reaction... oh, right, the window was closed, wasn't it? ]

...I did mention that bit, didn't I? My being dead and all that. [ She didn't. ]

[ Sophie scrabbles for her book and kind of... brandishes it. She's not throwing it, thankfully, but she does thrust it out in front of her like she thinks she can use it as a weapon. ]

S–s–s-stay back! J–Just because you look like M–Miss Ivy doesn't mean you'll pull one over on me!

[ by god ]

[ Ivy responds by floating the rest of the way into Sophie's room, hands on her hips. ]

Oh, isn't this nice? Here I come, visiting my good friend in my hour of need, and you wave a book at me like I'm a bug that needs to be swatted! Well, go ahead, swing away! It'll go right through me, but the damage to my feelings with last a lifetime! [ Deathtime? ]

[[ Character details here! TLDR: A dumb ghost. No sex options. ]]

[ Sophie just barely lowers the book an inch and squints at Ivy from behind it, looking– well, still terrified, frankly, just less hysterically so than she did before. ]

W–wait... are you really Miss Ivy?

[ I want to say she guessed that a random ghost wouldn't be able to imitate Ivy so well but the truth is that she really is just this trusting. ]

But that can't be right! You never said you were– you were a g–g–g–!

[ she can't even fuckin say it ]

A ghost? I guess it never came up until just now. I'm a ghost, Sophie.

[ There, issue resolved. ]

Since when?! Did this just happen?

[ And then she wheezes in a big, dramatic gasp. ]

Is that why you're worried about your human rights?!
