- One-Sided Love: Sadly, still a trope here. As always, a heart will be broken. But maybe, just maybe, the love isn't unrequited. Maybe the other person isn't aware!
- Jerk/Sweetheart: The pairing of a stoic jackass and a manic pixie dream.
- Misunderstood Delinquent: You're not what you seem. You just want to give flowers to that cute girl, not run her over with your motorcycle!

- Oh, My Goddess!: Uh-oh, you accidentally summoned an angel/demon/alien/god/goddess. And now they're bound to you forever! But at least you can stay just friends...or something like that.
- Teach Me To Become Human: A robot, an alien, a god, a demon, or anything beyond our human knowledge wants to know more about our emotions - from you and your love.
- Single-Gender School: For all the yaoi and yuri fans out there, don your uniforms and remember that Maria is watching.
- The Silent Protector: In love with his/her charge, but never able to act on it.

[ Even though they'd been talking cats this whole time, she somehow hadn't been expecting a cat and dinner combo. The sincere surprise on her face lights up her eyes a little in a way they usually don't – and then it turns into a smile. ]
Trust you to hunt down something like this and keep it under wraps for so long. [ She reaches out to take his hand and gives it a little squeeze. ] Have you been inside by yourself yet?

[She gets a little hand squeeze in return; he's blunt at times, but it just means he's equally earnest at times like this as well.
He holds her hand as they cross the street from the park entrance to the front of the cafe and brings her inside.]

[ In they go!! They are going to so transparently be the two kids skipping school to hang out here, but Ryoko doesn't care. ]

It's a good job we're going to explain ourselves once we get back, you know. Otherwise I don't know what excuse I'd come up with for being covered in cat hairs.
[ Said as she leans over and starts to very decisively Pet That Kitty. ]

The menu drops a little as he takes one hand away from it, reaching out to try and pet the little critter too but...the cat hisses and flees them both. It leaves him sitting there with his hand hovering in the air for a moment.]

[Before he just pulls it back.]
("Sorry. Animals don't like me very much. Never have. Guess I did something terrible to them in a past life.")
[Said as a joke but this is where we'd get the black and white flashback of a robot standing on a squirrel while he tried shoving a bird into a mech.]

Come on, you can't shrink away from the cats the entire time we're here. We just need to soften them up a bit for you, that's all.
[ And going by Ryoko's voice she is not taking no for an answer. She turns in her seat, completely distracted away from the menu by the equally important task of trying to encourage one of the cats over and into her lap. ]

It doesn't take much effort on her part given the cats are used to random humans swinging by for a bit of attention. The nearest kitty is drawn by the movement of her hand and strolls over, rubbing its face against her hand and leaving itself open to being placed on a lap.
Morris watches the whole time but he's not really sold on the idea...although it's outweighed by the fact he trusts Ryoko right now.]

Once she's got the cat settled and half-dozing in her lap, she tips her head towards it and gives him a grin. ]

Well judging by her choice in boyfriend yeah.
But he imitates what she'd done - something he's always been very good at, kinesthetic learning turned all the way up to 11 - and he does actually manage to lure a cat over. It even accepts a few gentle...but admittedly awkward...pets.
He's done it. He's halfway there. This is the closest he's ever gotten.]
