Romance Prompts

HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character and preferences.
- Comment to others.
- THAT'S IT YOU'RE PLAYING.
PROMPTS
- School Romance: Oh, I hope senpai notices me...or the cute class president, or the head of cooking club, or -
- Childhood Crush: You've known each other for a long time, but one of you had to leave when you were kids. Now you're back together, and the dynamic is totally different. This also often involves a "childhood marriage proposal," where the naive party promises marriage and the other takes it seriously.
- Love Note: The note you left the object of your affection might be a bit passive, but you can't confess face to face!
- You're Like Family to Me: The two of you have been close forever, so you've never seen each other like that...until now.
- Tsundere: G-geez, idiot, it's not like I like you or anything! I was just worried...worried, okay? Don't make me slap you!
- Kuudere/Ice Queen (King): I have no interest in things like "love" or "romance." They are the least important things in this world.
- Yandere: You don't like me anymore? How...? Oh, that's alright. I'll make you LiKe Me.
- Unlucky Friend: You lost the person of your dreams to someone else, perhaps because of their allure or perhaps because you never spoke up. What can you do now?
- Red String of Fate: That person? You know you're totally meant for them! So what if you've never talked? You have the red string of fate!
- I'll Cheer You On: Always supportive, always by your side, they're the person you can count on. Why do they care so much, though?
- Harem: One guy. Lots of girls. Craziness ensues.
- Reverse Harem: One girl. Lots of guys. Craziness ensues.
- Head Patting: Apparently a great way to show you care, both for dogs and for humans.
- Indirect Kiss: Your lips touched that. Their lips touched that. OH MY GOD IT'S LIKE YOU KISSED.
- Slap-Slap-Kiss: I could kill you for what you just did! I could - I could KISS YOU.
- Confession in the Heat of the Moment: You're about to go defeat the ultimate baddie. How about confessing your feelings to the person you love? Seems legit.
- Food for Thought: I made you lunch. Want to share?
- Repaying a Debt: You broke a vase, ruined somebody's priceless something-or-another, and now you have to be their servant until you pay it off!
- I'll Be Your Dog: Or you don't owe that person anything, you just wait on them hand and foot and hope they'll appreciate you one day.
- The Kind of ____ You Like: You want to change yourself to the type that the object of your desire wants.
- One-Sided Love: Sadly, still a trope here. As always, a heart will be broken. But maybe, just maybe, the love isn't unrequited. Maybe the other person isn't aware!
- Jerk/Sweetheart: The pairing of a stoic jackass and a manic pixie dream.
- Misunderstood Delinquent: You're not what you seem. You just want to give flowers to that cute girl, not run her over with your motorcycle!
- Fight for You: I won't lose the hand of my girl/guy to the likes of you!
- Sudden Kiss: Kiss from nowhere! There are lots of reasons for this: to stop someone from crying, to make them be quiet, or just to explain yourself when words can't.
- Kiss on the Forehead: It's a sweet way to say "I love you."
- Physical Difference: Usually size difference - and then, it's usually big guy/tiny girl, though big girl/tiny guy is explored as well - though this is present in a lot of different ways.
- Class Difference: You live in a culture that is still greatly stratified by class, whether it be wealth or power structures.
- Oh, My Goddess!: Uh-oh, you accidentally summoned an angel/demon/alien/god/goddess. And now they're bound to you forever! But at least you can stay just friends...or something like that.
- Teach Me To Become Human: A robot, an alien, a god, a demon, or anything beyond our human knowledge wants to know more about our emotions - from you and your love.
- Single-Gender School: For all the yaoi and yuri fans out there, don your uniforms and remember that Maria is watching.
- The Silent Protector: In love with his/her charge, but never able to act on it.
- The Perfect Waifu/Husbando: They are so graceful, so lovely, so kind, you've really lucked out!
- To Make My Beloved Happy: You will do anything for the person you love, even if that means not being with them.

i want ryoko to confess to him and you cant stop my demands
Once he's cleaned himself up and gotten dressed, his headphones go on and he rides his bike through the city to get to school. He doesn't have much of a desire to turn up early, so given he leaves so early he likes to go on extended bike rides to nowhere in particular. Sometimes he thinks it would be nice to skip class and cycle around the city all day like his brother, but in the end he just can't bring himself to - if he lets his grades slip, he'll risk slipping entirely down to Maurice's level. He can't do that.
So at a comfortable enough time just before class starts, he cycles all the way to school, leaves his bike in the shed, puts his stuff into his locker and makes his way to class. He isn't so much avoided by people because they don't like him - the occasional person does try to give him a wave or a hopeful "hi" along the way - but it's more he keeps to himself. Morris keeps walking as if they aren't even there. He has so few people in school he thinks are worth the attention.
He does spot someone who is though, once he enters class. As he passes through the door, he slows momentarily in front of Ryoko's desk and gives her a little wave, a nod, then heads on over to his desk and sits down by the window, as he always does.
A moment later, her phone buzzes.]
🤨🤔✌️🙄👨🏫😴
[Crossing his fingers he doesn't fall asleep during biology...teacher's so boring.]
ok but only once i've recovered from 'blue hair and pronouns'
Mostly because she's been turning the How To Tell You Like Morris As A Guy And Not Just A Classmate You Hang Out With problem over in her head for about a week and the only reasonable solution she can settle on is to just tell him with her words. An approach that blunt would probably get the job done, but for once in her life, she's willing to accept that this probably calls for a slightly more delicate touch.
She's still mulling the whole thing over by the time he arrives at class – so no, that serious look on her face as she nods to him has nothing to do with focus on her academics. ]
👨🏫📅📯🙃🙃🙃
[ If they have to endure yet another endless story about some definitely made up anecdote instead of getting a biology lesson then she really might just lose it.
Then after a pause comes the dreaded typing bubble. It pops up and goes away a few times before an actual message finally comes through. ]
🤕➡️👩⚕️🏃💨❓
[ If he's dreading it that much, he can tag along when she goes to the infirmary later on. You know, because she's so terrible delicate and frail that she needs someone to go with her. ]
metal sonic voice: everyone has pronouns, zavok
👍 🤜🤛 [And then:] 👋
[If she looks over after the waving emoji, he gives her a smile and a nod.
Let's do this amigo]
no subject
She lets the first ten minutes of class just drone by, doing her best to just be quiet and keep her head down. She doesn't bother taking notes and makes sure to keep her brow furrowed (not hard, in a class like this). Eventually, once she's just about had enough of listening to the teacher's voice, she lifts her hand into the air, making sure not to be too enthusiastic. ]
Sorry, but... I think I might have to head down to the infirmary. I thought I was feeling well enough for class, but...
[ Ryoko's condition is at least common enough knowledge that this doesn't get any more than a distracted nod and she gathers her things together then wobbles up out of her seat, making sure to look a bit more pathetic than is really necessary. Surely when she looks so unsteady on her feet, she can't just go to the infirmary unattended? ]
no subject
The teacher looks over and he signs a bit.]
("I do not think she should go alone.")
[And all of his teachers are likely used to his mutism so fortunately they can at least read it to understand him, then nod.]
"That's not like you to volunteer Morris, but...alright. You can go."
[Perks of consistently high grades. He doesn't even acknowledge their teacher then, walking over to accompany Ryoko outside, closing the door.............
Then giving her a thumbs up in approval.]
no subject
We should probably go straight there, just in case. [ She's keeping her voice low enough that Morris is the only one to hear then she turns to set off – she's been to the nurse's office enough times that she can make the trip on autopilot by now. ] If I'm right, there shouldn't be anyone in there today, so we have a good excuse for you to stick around until we head back to class.
no subject
When they arrive, he lets her go where she wants but he's immediately taking the seat where the Nurse would sit, slides down a bit to slouch into it and immediately pulls out his phone to kill some time.
It's just a normal hangout, after all.]
no subject
She's really never been that much of a people person. ]
I'm surprised he let you come with me. I thought for sure it might seem like we were just getting out of class if we left together.
[ There. Neutral ground. She can work with that. ]
no subject
(“Maurice is the one who skips classes, not me. I’m the good student.”)
[He gives the “good student” part of the signage a little embellishment with an amused expression, trying to get the sarcasm in
it across.
Morris isn’t so much a good student as he is someone who doesn’t care enough to be a bad one.]
(“It gives me a bit of leeway.”)
no subject
I guess the same probably goes for me. They're so used to me keeping my head down and getting on with things, they'd never imagine I'd want to do something as heinous as skipping one of my classes.
[ And she certainly wouldn't recruit a friend to do it with her. Not for any ulterior motive. Surely not.
She hangs on the end of that sentence in a way that makes it clear she has something more to say but isn't entirely sure how to start. She'd set her mind on just having out with it and getting it over with but now she's actually in the moment, she feels a little... unsure. ]
It's nice to have someone come with me to the infirmary for once, though.
no subject
[He stands up from his seat, shoves his phone into his pocket and walks over so he can sit next to her on the end of the bed.]
("This kind of thing is hard to put into words for me...maybe because I can't talk?") [The corner of his lips briefly flash a bit of amusement.] ("I spend all my time inside of my own head. Everyone tells me I'm very distant. Cold. Unfriendly."
"But...what I'm trying to say is, even if I am a cold person, I hope I haven't made you feel like spending time with you is a chore or something. I like spending time with you. You're probably my best friend.")
[And only friend BUT DONT WORRY RYOKO YOU'RE NOT FRIENDZONED YET.]
no subject
Right. Overthinking. She's doing it again. ]
... Then... [ Ryoko shifts a little where she's sat. She has to be looking at him, of course, to see his answer but she can't quite bring herself to see what face he's making so she drops her gaze to his hands instead. ] If I had a question to ask that might be a little out of the blue... do you think that would change? Or would things stay the same?
no subject
[It would depend entirely on the question of course, but why would she ask that but not look directly at him? It makes answering kind of hard, she knows that...
Somehow it makes him worry just a bit.
Does she not want to be his friend anymore? He'd get it, like, he's sure he's no fun to be around compared to his brother and maybe the fact his face is buried in his phone half the time when they hang around. Maybe he's boring? He...
Right. Overthinking.
He pauses and doesn't answer, but since she's looking away from his face, well.
Her phone buzzes.]
👂
🤗👍
😄🙏😄
[He'll listen. But he's sure nothing will change.]
no subject
[ It's sort of a relief to hear that – even if she knows that, with their positions reversed, she'd say the exact same thing without even thinking twice about what the question might be. The part of her brain that's been working itself overtime trying to psyche her out about this helpfully pipes up that he might change his mind once he actually hears the question, but–
No, he really isn't like that. If Morris says something, you can generally rely on him to mean it.
She looks up at him properly, trying to keep her face from showing how tight her stomach is squeezing right now. ]
You said the two of us are friends, but... if things were a little different, how would you feel about that?
no subject
But it is strange to him that she's beating around the bush somewhat. Ryoko is usually very forthright, especially with him.
Still...]
("My answer won't change. Whatever you have in mind, so long as we stay together...") [He pauses; not hesitation, but he's trying to word it just right.]
("Whatever you have in mind, don't hesitate. You can tell me anything.")
[And he reaches out just to hold her hand, encouragingly.]
no subject
I like you as more than a friend.
[ It sort of – tumbles matter of factly out of her mouth, like she's telling him what the weather forecast is. ]
If you'd rather us just stay friends, then that's fine with me. I'm happy for us to stay that way, too. But... [ Ah. Now she's hesitating. There's no way to pretend she isn't going a little red in the face with how much it stands out on her pasty skin. ] If it's fine with you, then I'd like for us to be together as more than friends.
no subject
("Yeah. Sure.")
[CAN IT REALLY BE THIS EASY.]
no subject
Wait. You're agreeing, just like that?
[ after all the overthinking she put into this???????? ]
